Intelligent tutoring systems are computer system which sets its foundation in Artificial intelligence where it conveys the content and delivers feedback to the users. These systems are designed in such a way that there is direct interaction with the students and usually accomplish most of the instructional functions which are reserved for tutors. Data mining techniques can be applied to various intelligent tutoring systems models to describe and predict the student performance. The learning models of various users can be analyzed by the system and then Data mining strategies are applied that satisfy the personalized requirements. The widespread use of data mining in learning is need for an expert knowledge. In this paper, we have discussed in detail about the intelligent tutoring systems along with its applications. We have also discussed about the various data mining techniques applied to intelligent tutoring systems.
