Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are independent sensors which are spatially distributed to examine environmental conditions like pressure, temperature, humidity, sound, wind, pollution level, etc. Routing protocols play a vital role in determining the achievement of wireless networks. In this paper, a relative study between proactive and reactive routing protocols and their effect on the execution of WSN is presented. Evaluation of the performance such as throughput, packet delivery ratio of routing protocols is obtained through simulation in ns2 by varying the number of nodes, pause time and mobility of nodes.
