Among various core components of Blockchain, consensus protocols represent a fundamental keystone to achieve consistency and reliability. However, consensus remains computationally demanding, particularly in large-scale networks. In this work, we propose LIGHTX a practical and scalable transaction recording system, that bypasses the limitations of traditional consensus protocols. LIGHTX leverages a Byzantine Reliable Broadcast (BRB) primitive to transmit and validate transactions at minimal cost compared to the state-of-the-art alternatives. Moreover, we deploy a Proof-of-Bandwidth-based reputation mechanism to alleviate the threats enforced by Sybil attacks. Indeed, the system demonstrates a logarithmic communication in the number of nodes, and a preliminary transaction rate of hundreds per second while providing a defense against Sybil attacks.
