In the last few decades, the wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have achieved popularity because of its instinctive nature, that makes it obvious that it can be fixed in landscapes where human beings may not be able to reach. Since the last decades, both the utilization of energy and the Lifetime of Network have been among the highest challenge in the WSN. We therefore propose a Fuzzy Logic and Meta-heuristic Firefly Algorithm based Routing Scheme to Extend Network Lifetime of WSN (FLMFLA). In this work, the cluster header selects using three parameters: The residual energy of the node, distance from its center of the grid, and communication cost with the sink node using the fuzzy rules. After the cluster header selection cluster header accumulated data from the cluster members. However, data forward to the sink node, the cluster header must select a node in such a way that its amount of energy is spent to transmit data used here for the purpose of swarm best meta-heuristic firefly optimization. FLMFLA is tested on different scenarios to demonstrate its execution and to differentiate it from the EHR-DC previously used. Experimental results show that FLMFLA not only lengthens the lifetime of network, throughput and reduce the end-to-end delay but also increases the amount of data received by the sink.
