Blockchain uses several cryptographic techniques to validate and store information, thereby making it extremely difficult to hack. Some have even argued that a blockchain is impossible to hack. The blockchain network has gained quite the reputation over the last decade because of its seemingly impenetrable security and owing to this, several organizations have considered or are considering adopting the use of blockchain technology. However, like every other technology, blockchain is also susceptible to attacks. In thischapter, we will take a deep dive into the structure, security attacks, and countermeasures in the blockchain network, with a focus on blockchain vulnerabilities, precautions, and countermeasures.
