A survey on energy-efficient networking and its improved security features

In today’s fast-moving world, information sent from one end of the globe is received at the other end in a blink of an eye. Behind this phenomenon is a large backbone network in which various worldwide servers are interrelated in order to share information between them. The networking devices (routers, switches, etc.) are the most crucial part of a network as they are used as a medium to propagate information from source to destination. In recent years, various advancements have been made to improve the efficiency, security, and energy consumption of networks using various methodologies and reference models.
