An Approach to IoT Framework and Implementation of DoS Attack

Umang Garg, Shalini Singh, Shivashish Dhondiyal, Neha Gupta · 2021

The Internet of Things (IoT) revolution comprised interconnected dumb devices to exchange information. The integration of modules such as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), WSAN (Wireless Sensor and Actor-Network) and objects with the internet can provide remote access to devices. IoT offers numerous services in various domains and utilizing the traditional internet infrastructure. IoT equipment are more vulnerable due to the involvement of the internet and cloud infrastructure. Currently, there is no standard framework or any well-defined structure to regularize the working of IoT. However, several frameworks were proposed by researchers based on functionalities. In this chapter, we first discuss the most relevant protocols that can be used in the IoT domain. Second, we classify different IoT frameworks with their functionalities and limitations. Finally, a case study is performed in the IoT simulated environment and a Denial of Service attack (DoS) performed. We hope that our work will be helpful for the people those have interest in the field of IoT security.
