The story of the “Kitchen Sink Project” and how robotics helped it succeed

Heather McDonald, Patsy Meehan, W.I. Lewis, Bob J. Selfridge · 2021

What do you do when you need trees removed at three different military facilities, targets replaced at two facilities, Sabots that keep damaging DPW's bush-hogs cleaned up, and all of this work is on active military ranges covered in munitions? Important Note – One of your Clients need those trees cut down to facilitate line-of-sight training scheduled before the end of the Fiscal Year and it's already August! You quickly realize that the only way to be able to work these projects within the tight time frames on land covered in unexploded munitions is to utilize Robotically Operated Heavy Equipment. You then lump all these small projects together into one contract and call it the “Kitchen Sink” (because it includes everything but the kitchen sink in it!) and sequentially go after each of the projects according to schedule priority. The presentation covers each one of these small individual projects in the order they were performed and demonstrates how Robotics saved the projects schedule along the way.
