Adaptive Approach to Detect Optimal Edge Orientation Using the Variogram

This research work suggests an adaptive approach to image segmentation. The approach aims to analyze variogram properties such as the direction, the renewal period of texture pattern, and the object's size to adapt the optimal operator. The algorithms generate a directional edge map (DeMAP) using the variograms. It will guide and automatically adapt the optimal edge operator. Our method is tested on different image categories: Natural images, Controlled scenes, Textured images, and especially in medical images; blood cells images.
