A NURSE TAKES your blood, helps you up on to the freshly laundered bed, and holds your shaking hand. They're a clinician, carer and comforter. The vast majority of us have, at some point in our lives, been looked after by a ward sister, matron or community nurse. Most of us were delivered into this world by a midwife. Nurses are an essential part of our healthcare from birth to our final days.
