In order to solve the problem of data transmission in maritime opportunistic network, a maritime opportunistic network routing protocol CA (Connectivity Assessment) based on network connectivity assessment is proposed. This method first assesses the connectivity between the source node and the destination node, then divided into two cases according to the assessment result. In the case that there is a connected route between the source node and the destination node, the route with the minimum hop is found by BFS (Breadth First Search) algorithm, and the data are transmitted along this route. When there is no complete link between the two nodes, the destination shore and estimated time of arrival are obtained through the ship’s AIS (Automatic Identification System) equipment, and the source node assesses whether the message is forwarded based on the above information. Simulation results show that the proposed CA algorithm can effectively improve the message delivery rate and reduce the transmission overhead. It is a reliable and low-power maritime opportunistic network routing algorithm.
