Border control protocol security: a review of operation and vulnerabilities relating to DDoS attacks

The Border gateway protocol plays an important role in enabling communication via the internet. This paper presents a review of how BGP works, discussing its major role in enabling communication via the internet. The research is based on a review of articles relation to Border gateway protocol. routing and internet communication. The findings are based on an examination of these papers. The paper concludes that BGP is exposed to three main vulnerabilities: BGP denial of service attacks, BGP route hijacking and BGP route manipulation.
