A Simple Glide Slope Transmitter for Navigation Aids System Education

Nipont Tangthong, Somsak Akatimagool · 2021

The purpose of article is to develop a simple glide slope transmitter for navigation aids systems for applying to teaching in avionics engineering and related fields. The glide slope transmitter developed in connection to the Digital RF signal generator, can be used to test the onboard glide slope receiver. The implemented results shown that a simple glide slope transmitter developed using a transmit power of 1 mW can transmit radio waves to the glide slope receiver at transmission distance of approximately 5 m. The advantage of developed transmitter is flexible in modify various parameters and measure the transmitter radio waveform with theoretical quality of aircraft communication system and easy to construct and implement in a practical laboratory and the hangar for testing the glide slope receiver on aircraft as convenient.
