The Effects of Quantizing the Fractional Interval in Interpolation Filters

The fractional interval, which is an adjustable continu-ous-valued parameter in interpolation filters, is used to determine the interval between the output sample and the previous input sample. This paper presents the effects of quantizing the fractional interval. It is shown that this quantization causes images to the stopband of the filter. These images are reduced by 6dB per every extra bit. 1.
