Support Application for Configuring Optimal Relay Nodes in Wireless Sensor Networks

Etsushi Oda, Koki Kawauchi, Toshihiko Hamasaki · 2021

This paper describes the development of an application system to determine the locations of relay nodes in mesh-type WSNs (wireless sensor networks) operating at frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 920 MHz for agriculture and forestry. This application is designed for static placement. First, the transmission range of each initial node is defined by simulating the RSSI (received signal strength indicator) values for complicated terrain. Then, a newly proposed search algorithm is used to conFigure the optimal relay nodes, considering LOS (line-of-sight) and NLOS (non-line-of-sight) conditions.
