Smart Automotive System With CV2X‐Based Ad Hoc Communication
Rabindranath Bera · 2021
With incorporation of more electronics modules within the vehicle like ADAS modules with sensors, camera and LIDAR, CV2X modules for critical safety communication, IoT modules towards efficient control of battery and charger of electric vehicle, passenger infotainment modules and others, present day vehicles are getting smarter. It will meet demand of smarter world for safe journey with full of enjoyment. Further, proper and efficient management of the said modules are provided by incorporating one vehicular Gateway as an additional module. Gateway within the vehicle is thus becoming the server of all the vehicular automation and activities with other modules act as clients or domain controllers. 3GPP has standardized the 5G mobile use cases towards vertical domain namely eMBB, mMTC and URLLC and represented them by red color corners of a triangle. This paper aims at realizing the smart vehicle at ECE department SMIT, SMU at its ‘5G IoT' Center of Excellence by emulating the three 5G use cases. It discusses the details of development stages with 5G technology for Proof of Concept (POC) supported by field trials. One industrial review is also included to note the SMIT's development standpoint with NXP semiconductors and comparison is tabulated for better understanding.
