Semantic Parsing for Cognitive Framing in Specialized Texts

Ekaterina Isaeva, Igor A. Gilev, Даниил Сергеевич Курушин · 2021

The paper presents the first steps in the field of cognitive framing of specialized texts by means of semantic parsing. This work is undertaken as part of a long-term project on Special Knowledge Mediation by means of Automated Ontological and Metaphorical Modelling, which resulted in the development of the programs for automated terms identification, classification, and ontological representation (TSBuilder, TSGraph). The current proposal is aimed at automatic tagging terms (nouns) in Computer security texts, assigning them semantic roles in the framework of Ch. Filmore's theory of valency and semantic roles. The paper presents an overview of existing annotation tools, like FrameNet, SEMAFOR, Framat, etc., analyzes their applicability for specialized texts annotation and their compliance with the demands of modern cognitive linguistics. We outline the measures we take for incorporating these tools in our project and specify the technical part of the parser we develop for this purpose.
