Authentication in opportunistic networks: State and art

Musaeed Abouarork, Khaleel Ahmad · Journal of Discrete Mathematical Sciences and Cryptography · 2021

In opportunistic networks, the nodes connect to each other wirelessly and use the store-carry-forward technique to transmit the data from one node to another node. Opportunistic networks are much-challenged network due to no end to end communication between the nodes in the range of opportunistic networks. In opportunistic networks, nodes are heterogeneous, high mobility, limited power, low density, the short range of radio and many security threats to nodes which are not authorized. Opportunistic networks became very complex due to these features, so in this review will discuss the main challenges, issues, approaches and techniques in security which help to find the solutions to prevent the malicious nodes and increase the level of security in opportunistic networks. We will focus on authentication and privacy to achieve the requirements of security in opportunistic networks.
