Mobile Ad hoc Network is a kind of wireless systems formed by portable nodes that speak with one another without any central organization. MANETs are more vulnerable to attacks than wired network, as there is no security mechanism. Black Hole Attack is one of the most genuine attacks which influence the MANETs activity. In this type of attack, all forwarded data packets are dropped by Black Hole node. There are many techniques available to eliminate the black hole attack on AODV protocol in MANET. In this work, a novel method is proposed on AODV routing protocol named as enhanced AODV. Enhanced AODV will detect and avoid the black hole attack in MANET’s. The enhanced AODV is improved version of the basic AODV where the performance of the network is measured based on throughput, end to end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead. The implementation of the proposed method is done using NS-2.35 simulator.
