Hardware Trojans and their Security Impact on Reconfigurable System-on-Chips
Jacob Kabakci, Nisha Singh · 2020
Outsourcing of integrated circuit design increases the risk of inserting hardware Trojans. This thesis analyzes possible attack vectors at different design phases. Two attack examples demonstrate the feasibility of such attacks on FPGA SoCs. Two countermeasures for preventing such attacks are also presented: 1) A firewall concept that separates security critical designs from unsecure parts 2) A bitstream protection scheme against modifications with limited reliance on vendor provided cores.
