Now-a-day's cloud computing becomes a prominent computing paradigm. The services which cloud computing technology deliver to their users are flexible, reliable, low-cost, and satisfactory. Data storage is the fundamental service, the cloud provides where data owners can store, modify, retrieve huge data of any type it may be text, images, multimedia, etc. While outsourcing sensible data over the cloud, there are two principal issues - privacy and security, as the cloud providers are semi-trusted. For that, encryption is the very first step of providing security and privacy to sensitive data while uploading over the cloud. But applying search operation on encrypted data and at the same occasion retrieve specific data from a huge amount of encrypted data as well as secure data sharing within a group of entities is the most challenging task. So that secure keyword search and data sharing operations play a significant role in cloud storage. There are many existing schemes, some of them support either search operation or share operation and some schemes perform both operations. This paper gives a brief review on previous studies which deal with different techniques used over the cloud for secure keyword-based searching and data sharing.
