ADAFTIVE SPATIAL FILTERING FOR DIGITAL IMAGES
Xuejun Yang, Zailu Huang · 1988
This paper presents an adaptive spatial filtering for images with application to post-processing of block coding images. The main purpose is to reduce the degradation in decoded images caused by block coding with no increase in the bit- rate of coding. The filter design is based on some prior knowledge about image edges,Marr's vision model and the optimal approximation theory. The experiment shows that the filter is satisfactory, simple, and easy for hardware implementation. It can be applied to all kinds of images encoded by block coding methods.
