A single 8-bit microprocessor solution to implementing the protocol stack of the A VBus control channel is described. This IC provides an “off-the-shelf” interface between the control system of a consumer electronics device and the appropriate A VBus control channel hardware. The IIC interprocessor protocol is used to communicate with the device. Simultaneous buffers allow messages travelling up and down the stack to “bypass” each other for improved signal throughput. An extensive set of automatic and diagnostic features are detailed.
