Research Directions in Object Oriented, Real-Time Dependable Systems

C. Douglass Locke · Workshop on Object-Oriented Real-Time Dependable Systems · 1999

As we consider object oriented, real-time (OORT) dependable systems, especially those used in distributed implementations, several opportunities for significant further research become evident. Particularly in the context of middleware infrastructure, such as CORBA, further innovation is needed to improve the predictability and ease of implementation of such applications as command & control, telecom, and industrial automation. This brief panel position paper considers the need for further near-term research in architectural paradigms, dyanamic scheduling, and long-lived systems.
