The internet of things (IoT) has revolutionized the world with its plethora of real-life applications and service support. The usage of IoT can be easily seen in domains of healthcare, defence, home, safety, agriculture, etc. However, because of its usability and applications in various different fields, IoT involves usage of different types of sensors for information gathering and also the involvement of various heterogeneous hardware and protocols. So, security in IoT has always remained a crucial aspect. Malicious users can tamper with the information flowing to and fro from the network, and important information can be lost to malicious users. Blockchain is an emerging decentralized technology which is almost impossible to hack because of its peculiar features such as decentralization, cryptographic algorithms, mining, proof of work (PoW), etc. So, in this chapter, an attempt has been made to analyze the possibility of using blockchain technology with IoT-based networks for enhancement in the security of the overall network.
