A STUDY OF LINE SPECTRUM PAIR PREQUFNCIES FOR SPEECH RECOGNITION

R. R. Paliwal · 1988

The line spectrum oair fLPP) frequency representati.on has recently been pro~osed as an alternative linear prediction (LP) parametric representation. In the context of speech cod i nq, thi s representation shows better quantization properties than the other LP parametric representations. In the present Daper, the LSp representation is studied for saeech recognition. Several distance measures based on this representation are investipated. The weighted T,SP distance measure is found to resu 1 t in the best performance. The ~erformance of the weighted LSP distance measure is coaDare3 with that of the other popular L!? distance measures (such as the Itakura, cepstral, weighted cepstral, root-power-sk~m, 1.op area ratio and reflection roeGficient distance measures). The weighted LSP distance measure is found to perform significantly better than these oopular LP distance measures.
