To Merge or Not to Merge

Merging large data sets takes a tremendous amount of CPU time and workspace. Two alternative techniques will be presented and compared to MERGE. -Two INFILE statements in a DATA step -PROC FORMAT Two scenarios will be tested to compare these processes, merging a small file to a large file and merging two large files. CPU time will be recorded for each. The results of this analysis will be used to detail which techniques are the most efficient under each scenarios.
