Performance Evaluation of the ASM Layer of MR3

This report presents a performance evaluation of the ASM layer of the MR3, which is a next generation computing engine on Hadoop. Firstly, we briefly explain about MR3's core layer, how it organizes and manages service components. Secondly, we propose a design of ASM layer, which is mainly responsible for processing and computing data. More specifically, we present a design that can filter text data with a given pattern as input arguments and another design for counting the number of different words in the text data. Finally, we prove through extensive experiments that with the same program, our design performs better than MapReduce2 and Apache Tez.
