Mobile Augmented Reality Interaction Using Gestures via Pen Tracking

Jerry van Angeren · 2015

In this work, we present a novel tracking-based gesture interaction technique using a tablet’s camera to interact in an augmented reality setting. We have created a proof-ofconcept game in which transformation or drawing gestures are used to manipulate existing virtual objects or create new ones respectively. We evaluate the feasibility and usability of our technique in a user study with 25 participants. Results show that users are able to perform the implemented gestures after having some training and enjoy using our interaction technique. The performance and subjective data proved the potential of our interaction technique when used for augmented reality games.
