Communication Networks for Metropolitan E-Health Applications

The unification of advanced communication technologies with compact sensors has enabled the materialization of e-health applications, such as telemedicine, telemonitoring, e-prescriptions, and health informatics, among others, which have revolutionized the field of health care. An important factor in their successful implementation is the reliability of the communication networks that are responsible for the flow of information among the devices related to the e-health applications. This need is exacerbated when the devices are distributed over a wide topological sprawl.
