In this modern era, the adoration of sensors is increasing rapidly with the peregrination of effective technologies. In this context, the issues of sensing coverage and network connectivity stand as the two major aspects in the context of environmental sensing and robust data reporting. Our current chapter elaborates on the fundamental studies on sensor architecture, coverage types, and connectivity while infusing the various types of coverage encountered in sensor networks. The aim of the chapter is to discuss the various concepts such as area coverage, barrier coverage, point coverage, target coverage, and k -coverage. Finally, we conclude our chapter while giving hints on future work.
