Service Innovation of 3PL service Providers

Logistics management includes the most efficient and economical management of all activities in the supply chain, related to the storage, handling and transport of the products. Nowadays, logistics activities are outsourcing to 3PL providers in order for companies to reduce costs and focus on their main activities. 3PL are companies that undertake logistics activities on behalf of others. Since 3PL sector is an emerging industry, innovation management is deemed to be necessary for the development process in third party logistics companies. The aim of this thesis is to bring a holistic view of innovation management in 3PL companies. To achieve the objectives of this thesis, relevant literature was reviewed extensively in order for a better knowledge in this field to be formed. Specific databases were selected so as the different approaches that have been developed on this topic to be investigated and specific conclusions to be drawn. A second short research was also conducted aimed to confirm if the findings of the literature review are met in the Greek 3PL industry.
