RELIABILITY OF THE STATISTICAL METHOD IN RESEARCHING CRIMINALITY

В. В. Пивоваров · Knowledge International Journal · 2017

In every society, criminality is treated as a negative behavior which, depending on the threats and consequences, causes unwanted damages to the citizens as well as the state. Using the statistical method in the research of criminality, we can predict the movement of criminality regarding its quantity and quality. This method can help us expand and upgrade our knowledge of criminality. In the scientific criminological circles, the opinions regarding the reliability of the results from the statistical method used in criminality research are divided between those who consider this method to be absolutely true, and those who claim that these types of research give absolutely false and misleading data. This method, used in researching criminality, should not be a series of plain data related to committed crimes, but a thorough representation of data combined with the results from other methods used in criminality research, like interview, experiment, implementation and measurement.
