Scalable Distributed Pivot Analysis over Massive Big Data: Models, Paradigms, New Advancements

Pivot analysis is a powerful analytics tool that has been traditionally used in Business-Intelligence/OLAP systems. Surprisingly, pivot analysis turns to be very handful in modern big data analytics systems, where the main issue is that of extracting useful, actionable knowledge from massive amounts of (distributed) data. Energy management application scenarios are classical settings where pivot analysis shows its benefits, and the integration with big data features is a very exciting research direction. Following these considerations, this paper proposes a new vision on scalable distributed pivot analysis over massive big data, by analyzing actual trends and studying further advancements.
