Speculative service design: A provocation for a possible future for the emergency department waiting room

This design practice-based thesis examines the Emergency Department (ED) waiting room, and how waiting might be experienced in the future. Through a series of engagements with ED patients, carers and staff, this research has generated a provocation and speculative outcome through design practice, which might be applied to benefit and support the design process of new healthcare facilities and environments.
