Use the Narrative Toolbox to Win Arguments

Jennifer Gottschalk · 2021

Given that most teachers have tools and curricula for teaching persuasive or argument writing, the intent of this chapter is to enhance, rather than replace, those tools. Students who have been writing what they want to read for several months will have a much broader understanding of how to hook and persuade a reader that “something” is true. Mini-lessons and writing practices are designed to connect persuasive techniques with narrative techniques and introduce a spirit of fun into the sometimes-dreaded essay.
