Empirical studies have shown that the Android platform is exposed to the software aging effects. Aging effects, such as poor performance and increased response times for systems and applications, have a negative impact on the user experience. This paper considers user-perceived response metrics: Frame Draw Time and Janky Frames. The proposed metrics are compared with Android Activity Launch Time and memory usage metrics. The expediency of using the proposed metrics in future studies of the aging phenomenon in the Android operating system is substantiated.
