ABSTRACT Sign language is the only way to communicate with deaf and mute people. About 9 billion people in the world are either deaf or dumb or both. To fill the communication gap between normal and impaired person, inspired us to propose this project SMART GLOVE – Turns Sign Language into Text Speech, which would be able to serve as a best friend to these people. The primary goal of this paper is to design and implement a low cost wired interactive glove, which is easy to use, light weight, and also can minimized hurdles for impaired people so that they also stand with a race. Hand gesture, facial expression and body language are used to convey the message. This paper proposes approach of interpreting sign language into smart glove. These systems consisting of flex sensor and accelerometer. Flex is used on each finger to sense gesture. This system consists of a speech synthesizer which converts their gestures into speech and also display text for the respective sign. Therefore, this device provides efficient way for deaf and dumb people to communicate with the world.
