In wireless ad hoc networks, network topology and traffic patterns change dynamically due to the nature of the applications. To provide reliable communication in this environment, a scheduling algorithm that can adapt to the dynamic changes in the network is required. ATLAS is a distributed TDMA scheduling protocol that can be adaptive to the topology and traffic in wireless ad hoc networks. However, since it randomly schedules the allocated resources, it may result in throughput degradation due to collision. In this paper, we propose an ATLAS-CA protocol that solves the collision problem of the ATLAS by creating a dedicated session using the modified RTS/CTS and multiple queues. The performance evaluations demonstrate that the proposed protocol improves the throughput of the ATLAS by reducing the collision and improving the successful transmission ratio.
