Security Threats in Online Metasearch Booking Services

The digitalisation of online booking services is creating space to new types of security threats. Services based online metasearch booking have their own specificity and vulnerability resulting from their unique character. Attempts of cyberattacks on platforms using metasearch engines may have various forms such as: decryption of sensitive data, gaining access control to the internal systems, takeover of users' accounts, access to the e-banking platforms of the users, phishing, etc. However, some of the security breaches can be attributed to not properly protected hardware or human error. The aim of the paper is to identify the cyber-threats for online booking services and to assess the potential threats for the service providers, contractors of the booking portals and end-users.
