An original and simple method for studying the performance of a VoIP network

The present work proposes an easy and simple method for estimating the working capacity of VoIP networks, using a protocol analyzer and mathematical distributions for the moments of arrival of the packets. The parameter that is monitored through the protocol analyzer is the jitter. The mathematical distribution and approximations give an additional idea of the time delay in the observed network. A virtual network is created to verify the proposed method. Simulation studies are carried out to test the proposed method. The results of using the method are presented.
