Checking Compliance of X.509 Digital Certificates over IPv6 with Specifications

HTTPS is an important guarantee for secure website communication, and X.509 digital certificates play an important role in it. The compliance of X.509 digital certificates with specifications directly affects information communication between clients and servers. With the emerging HTTPS sites over IPv6, it is critical to check compliance of X.509 digital certificates over IPv6. In this paper, the X.509 digital certificates in IPv6 network were obtained and checked. Compliance checking algorithm is designed and applied to the obtained X.509 digital certificates. The experimental results show that there is a certain percentage of non-compliant X.509 digital certificates over IPv6 and that the non-compliant categories are concentrated. This research is helpful to improving compliance of X.509 digital certificates over IPv6 with specifications, thereby enhancing the interoperability and security of communications over IPv6.
