Application of DTN Protocol in Aircraft Cluster Network

Xiangrui Fan, Wenjie Dong · 2020

As a new architecture, delay tolerant network (DTN) has been widely studied and applied in recent years. DTN protocol has its own store and forward mode, which makes it stand out in some restricted networks. Due to the fact that the aircraft cluster network works in a highly confrontational environment, the node position and global link state change constantly, which frequently triggers the process of route update or location update. It is very easy for the network partition or communication interruption to occur in the military battlefield. The traditional network protocol is difficult to apply. This paper discusses the feasibility of introducing DTN architecture into aircraft cluster network, in order to solve the problems such as intermittent connection of communication links and limited communication of different subnets, and to ensure the reliability and success rate of data transmission between aircrafts.
