Modelling Software Properties
DAVID E. BUDGEN · Software Design · 2020
This chapter discusses the attributes of software can be modelled at a more detailed level, although it is still very much an exercise in design abstraction. It also discusses the largely concerned with what properties and attributes we need to model and some ideas. The chapter focuses on design models-while recognising that they influence, and are influenced by, models. A specific perspective of the design model can be presented using a particular set of viewpoints and representations. Abstraction performs an essential role in the design process, allowing the designer to concentrate on those features of the design model that are most important at any particular stage of its development. Plan-driven approaches used with call-and-return architectures will develop constructional models towards the end of the design process, whereas those used with object-oriented styles as well as more dynamic forms of development such as the Agile forms may identify the major constructional elements at relatively early stages.
