Comparison Between HLS and HDL Image Processing in FPGAs

Han Sung Lee, Jae Wook Jeon · 2020

Image processing is a computationally intensive application in which FPGAs are used to accelerate system performance. New design methodologies using High-Level Synthesis have enabled rapid development. Still, there are some doubts as to whether HLS tools can produce as quickly and efficiently as traditional RTL-based designs. We presented that HLS-based design can accelerate equivalently to an RTL-based design and reduce the system development time.
