The Thinking of Students: A Nugget of Gold

As treachers, we often assign the same problems every year without thinking twice. It is almost as if we were robots. However, every so often a little nugget of gold emerges as we discuss our students' solutions, even when their reasoning may be inaccurate. This article presents one such nugget from the annals of history that emerged in an undergraduate course in methods of teaching mathematics.
