Concrete is most using material in the world. In Concrete aggregate occupies nearly 80%. Most ofthe aggregates of normal weight Concrete are natural stone such as granite, Lime stone and fine aggregatesand. Light weight aggregate capable for concrete may be regular materials such as pumice or scoria, or theymay be prepared aggregates such as expanded clays, shale’s, slates and slag’s. Vermiculite is an aggregate thatis created when volcanic rock is heated to intense temperatures. It is being a granular expanded aggregate withnumerous air voids, when mixed with suitable binder develops lighter structure and sound insulatingproperties. In recent years research is going on light weight vermiculite materials as replacement for fine andcoarse aggregate in concrete. In this paper an attempt is made to gather all the studies made on light weightvermiculite concrete in the recent years and put together at one place.
