Toeplitz matrices, homothety and least squares approximation
Fridrich Sloboda · 2020
Linear operators for digital contour smoothing are described. These operators are defined by circulant Toeplitz matrices and allow to smooth digital contours in the least squares sense. A family of these operators defined by the polynomials of the first order generates homothety. A bit level systolic array, which is capable of realizing the proposed smoothing operator, has been suggested. This array is easily implementable in VLSI and employs the two major principles of parallel processing, namely multiprocessing and pipelining.
