Whenever Bert learns about a new topic, he is an active, inquisitive, creative, intellectual "sponge." He energetically asks dozens of questions, impatiently waits for answers, and is not satisfied until he receives a good answer. When Homer learns about a new topic, however, his style is completely different. He is a passive recipient of knowledge. He assumes that the social and physical world is sufficiently kind to supply him with useful, relevant information. He never imposes himself on anyone with a question.
