The possibility of applying the fractal theory to the analysis of the surface type in the Earth's remote sensing is considered in the article. The method of conducting experimental studies of remote sensing of various types of earth surfaces is given. The analysis of radar signals reflected from the earth's surface using fractal dimensions is carried out. Based on the conducted research, an approach to the analysis of the underlying surface type using fractal dimension is proposed.
